Injecting Pops of Colour into Your Wedding 2024/25
Injecting pops of colour into your bridal look – why and how?!
It has long been the tradition that white, ivory or cream should be THE colour for your wedding dress, shoes, veil and often flowers and décor. For some, it seems unfathomable that you could pick anything else – even though the concept of the ‘white dress’ has only been culturally significant for 180 years, give or take.
We are living in an age where it has never been more socially acceptable or viable to choose exactly what and how you want your wedding to be, without feeling obligated to stick with tradition. Take the Bridal Mini – my absolute favourite retro resurrection trend from the 1960’s! This has become a popular option for chic, fun loving brides who want to do something a little different, and I’m all for it!
In 2024/25 bridal, we’re seeing colour injected back into our Pinterest boards, our accessories, our bouquets and our décor whilst maintaining that clean, sophisticated and timeless edge that is so popular right now.
Why are we seeing pops of colour?
For a while, when the ‘timeless/sleek’ trend came back in, we all went very monochrome. Black tie, ivory dress, ivory flowers, ivory linens, maybe a splash of gold or green. Gorgeous! But all trends need to keep trending in forward directions. The next natural progression has been from that sultry and sophisticated palette to an altogether brighter twist on this classic trend.
Think ivory dress, black bridesmaids, magenta and burgundy flowers. Or ivory dress, orange shoes, fuchsia flowers. How about the groom in a black suit with the bride in a floral print dress, hair up, sleek and sophisticated instead of loose and trailing?
There are so many ways to bring in brights to your theme and I think it’s definitely worth considering as the contrast in photos looks simply divine. Choosing a clean, ivory gown that is all about the silhouette keeps that effortlessly timeless appeal. Add some over sized sleeves as an iconic statement and give yourself even more ‘canvas’ to highlight that injection of colour.
Here are some ways of injecting a splash of colour into your look without loosing the clean and glamorous aesthetic.
Va-va-Voom Veils
There really is no right or wrong answer when it comes to a colourful wedding veil or for that matter, a colourful cape! Go for a block colour to add an extreme splash to your look or choose your favourite colours and pick them out using lace or applique details. 3D colourful flowers on an ivory veil is one of my personal favourite options. You can find a wealth of options in various bridal boutiques, online or even have a custom made veil by a specialist. Here are some of my favourite options.
Fashionable Footwear
Ivory wedding shoes are classic and beautiful. They are however, for most of us, not super ‘wear them again’ friendly. Unless you love an ivory heel and wear them into the office, the likelihood of them getting a good wear is slim. So why not make a splash and choose a a pop of colour for your feet, whether you go in flats or wedges, Docs or skyscrapers! Here are some of my favourite colourful shoes for your wedding!
Floral Frenzies
Injecting colour into your bouquet and floral wedding décor couldn’t be easier or more fun! When you think of a flower bed, what colours are there? Or better question, what colours aren’t there?! With the help of your florist, you can mix whatever tickles your fancy into a wonderfully vibrant clutch of blooms, archway, centrepieces and more. Whether you’re opting for fresh, faux or dried blooms, go as colourful as your heart desires. Your florist will help you pull your vision together as well as talk through textural options, depending on the style that you want.

Colourful Wedding Dress
Sometimes people assume that if you’re going for a colourful wedding dress, you’re opting for a whimsical, free-spirted style celebration. That’s not necessarily the case! I am loving seeing floral wedding dresses coupled with black tie, for a romantic and almost vintage vibe. Don’t forget, it was normal to wear coloured wedding dresses before white became ‘the fashion’ in the mid 1800’s, so why not take inspiration from the brides rocking those colours back in the day and put a sexy, modern twist on this style!
Here are some examples of colourful wedding dresses that work with super classic styling.
Colourful Wedding Décor
Maybe you want to keep your look as classic and clean as possible but still want to enjoy the aesthetic of a colourful wedding? Inject the colour into your décor! The quickest and most effective way to do this is by picking a colourful table cloth. If you’re having 80+ guests, that’s a minimum of 8 tables, which is a lot of prime real-estate to take advantage of! Adding colourful table cloths really sets the whole theme and colour palette of your wedding and décor just looks so good when placed atop a colourful table.
Have a pop of colour in your centrepieces, no matter how big or small, extravagant or simple. Have a splash of colour on the cake, your table plan, your stationery. Why not even have neon signs made that you can then take home afterwards and display in your home! There are so many options to add colour to your wedding décor and here are a few fab examples.
I’m hoping that you have taken something from this article today and have figured out your own way if injecting colour pops into your wedding. Whether they are subtle or over the top, we live life in colour, so be sure to embrace them.
